The Quest of Ages

Everyone loves a challenge. I guess that’s why by brother-in-law and I decided to set a nearly impossible goal, and I guess that’s why we are fighting as hard as we can to meet that goal. What’s the goal you ask? To watch the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie “Jingle all the Way” 50 times by Christmas. Yeah, it’s a waste of time, but it’s also a very funny movie (at least to make fun of) and we don’t have much else to do on the weekends.
The movie, which was released in 1996 hasn’t received the greatest reviews, nor has it achieved the cult status that I’m sure the producers were looking for. But I imagine that the people involved in making this film have a quiet understanding between each other of how revolutionary this film truly is. The great one-liners delivered by Ahnold and Sinbad (yes, THE Sinbad) are truly priceless and obviously were the product of spontaneous fun and not the movement of the writer’s pen.
The films tagline “Two Dads, One Toy, No Prisoners.” rings all too true for this screen gem. The delicate cat and mouse game between the two stars is nothing short of perfect. They feed off of each other in a dance of talent that spirals into the upper levels of the atmosphere.
The critics would say that this film should be called “Disappointing All the Way”, but I would in turn ask them what movie they watched. Surely their copy of Jingle all the Way was swapped for a copy of some Eric Estrada movie.
But really, this movie is crappy. But, it’s fun in its crappiness. I enjoy watching it, all 50 times. We’ve only watched it once so far, but we’ve got lots of time.

Did you see that this movie was going to be on NBC in the next couple of days? I realize it is edited but it could still fit Jamie’s and your purpose. FYI I went to see that movie in the theatre on my very first date! Argh Connersville boys are horrible.
By the way, I am working @ itt- tech now. This is my first job job since I graduated this August. I didn’t know if you were still interested in going back to get your BS. I work in the online division now so that might be something you might want to consider.
Tell Kristen I said hi. I got married in August things are going great so far. I’m still in Indy.
Things are kinda hectic now. We almost lost my dad to a major anuerysm in October. We were blessed he made it through by the grace of God. He’s finally coming home on Wednesday!! It will be a Merry Christmas all the way around for us.
I read your posts all the time and I saw this one so I just decided to say hi!
If I don’t hear from you, have a wonderful Christmas. Give everyone my love
