Journler: Great, free journal software for the Mac

JournlerSince April of this year I’ve been doing a lot of journaling. Something about hitting my mid-twenties (and sometimes forgetting things I never thought I would) has made me realize my need to keep track of the things that happen in my life. Obviously there are many apps out there that would allow me to write a journal, Word or even TextEdit would work just fine, but I wanted something that would allow me to associate photos, music and even video with my entries so I could even better keep track of the truly important events in my life.
In the recent issue of MacWorld one of their hot pics for software was a journaling application called MacJournal. It seemed to do everything that I wanted but it also had a price tag that I didn’t believe I could justify. So I did a little research and found a great application called Journler by Phil Dow. It’s up to version 2.0.1 and it’s in active development so while there are a few MINOR problems with the software it’s getting better with each new release. Perhaps its strongest feature is its integration with Apple’s iLife suite. Much like other iLife apps Journler has a media browser built in that allows you to drag and drop pictures, movies and music right into your entries.
Journler IconI just started using the software but I can already tell that this is going to be a great way for me to organize a journal and even maintain this weblog. In fact, I wrote this entry in Journler!
So, if you’re looking for a great journal/diary manager for the Mac look no further than Journler!

I love this program too. When I stumbled upon it (I don’t remember how that happened), I had just bought ecto, which I love, so I don’t use it for my blogs, but its sweet just to have a space to organize one’s thoughts.
Its programs like this that make me wish (sort of) that I knew how to write programs…
