New kitchen (sub) floor
Workers worked most of this morning removing remnants of the old floor which included rubber carpet backig and old vinyl tiles. Once that was removed they laid down a new subfloor, giving us a great foundation for the new floor.

Kitchen Bead Board
All of the bead board is now installed!

Kitchen Overall
Tomorrow the floor gets installed! This is an overall view of the kitchen with the large island removed. We’re going to be replacing it with a small sitting area with stools.

New countertops
We went with a laminate countertop because of the amount of countertop we needed. It was fairly inexpensive even to get a higher end laminate that’s textured.

Kitchen update
The bead board is up (mostly) and part of the countertop is in place. Today we’ll be putting up the rest of the bead board. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll be able to do plumbing for the sink and dishwasher and then we’ll be able to set the countertops. Tomorrow the floor is being put in.

Kitchen light fixture and shades
Kristen found some cool shades through Pottery Barn that I really like. I got those installed with only a moderate amount of struggle. 🙂

Kitchen, the home stretch
I finally got the new light fixture put up over the sink but we’re not happy with the red shades so we’ll be replacing those 🙂 We also got the first coat of paint on the walls, a sandy beige color.

Kitchen Overall
Installed a new ceiling fan and got the walls all sanded and ready for paint.

Kitchen as of today
The cabinet handles and pulls are all installed (mostly) and the painting is all finished on the cabinets. We’ve also got the primer on the walls. Oh, and the new fridge is here too!

Kitchen cabinets with new hardware
The cabinets are all done and the new hardware has been put on. We used small knobs for the upper cabinets, wider pulls for the middle cabinets and cup pulls for the drawers. All were brushed nickel finish.
