Stoked about the iPod Nano

Apple fanatics have been waiting for this week for a month or so now. Rumors have been flying of an iTunes-enabled cell phone, though the need for such a device is in question by many. This morning I got the chance to check out a webcast of the recent press conference held by Apple and I wasn’t dissapointed.
It started when I visited Apple’s website and saw their new feature, a picture of a hand holding an increadibly small divice that look like an iPod, but it’s much too small. "iPod nano: 1,000 songs. Impossibly small." is what it said, so I clicked on it. The next few minutes I was in amazement as I read the specs of this new replacement for the iPod mini (a smart move if you ask me). It doesn’t hold as many songs as the regular iPod, but I don’t think it’s going to matter to most people. The cuteness factor (not to mention the small size) will be enough to convice most people that the $50 savings (for the best model) is worth it.
It’s quite an amazing development and has left me wanting an iPod more than ever. I wish I could bring myself to spend the money to get one. I know I’d love it after I had it, but I always end up talking myself out of it. Oh well…
The new iTunes enabled phone is called the ROKR (read Rocker) and was developed by Motorolla. Not being a cell phone user, I wasn’t very excited about this, but I can see why many will be. Hope they enjoy it.
In general I find myself constantly amazed at how how consistant Apple is at coming up with new technologies to improve existing products.
