Stop 14 – Williamsburg, VA

After an overnight stay in West Virginia and a beautiful drive through the mountains our 1-week stop in Virginia began. Our campground was beautiful, tons of large coniferous trees with giant pine cones! The first couple of days were unseasonably warm but then things cooled off and settled in the mid-60s to 70s throughout the week.

We made a day trip to Hampton, VA to see the beach and do a little exploring. Crys and I combed the beach for sea glass to no avail, at least the stroll was nice!

The highlight of the trip was our trip to Colonial Williamsburg. It was a time capsule of the 1700s with markets, restaurants and people dressed in period garb scattered around. We got a few souvenirs including some beer made with period recipes that I’m excited to try.

I’ll also remember the nights we spent around the fire (and the giant bin of pine cones we collected for fuel), the incredible pizza we got from a local bakery and the wonderful, serene environment of the campground. The week flew by but I do feel like we were able to capture the essence of the area. We’re excited to hit the road for Ocean City, MD where we’ll be staying for 6 days.
