Tonight for dinner we tried something a little different… shishkabobs!
We’ve never made them before and Kristen thought it would be fun so she had the meat and vegetables marinating in the refrigerator all day and this evening we prepared them and put them on the grill. It took a little longer than we thought to get them cooked, and while they tasted good we didn’t quite get the red potatoes done all of the way through. Oh well, it was fun.
Another great thing happened tonight, the DCI World Championships were on TV for the first time ever. The two hour show spotlighted the top 5 performances of the evening and ended with the presentation of the huge DCI trophy to The Cadets, who had an amazing score of 99.15 (tying the top score of all time set by The Cavaliers, who got 2nd tonight).

Way back in prehistoric times (the 1980’s – maybe even 1990’s) PBS used to host the drum corps championships. I’m glad that they’re finally back on TV – it’s a good recruiting tool. We saw both the Cadets and Phantom Regiment perform early in the season in Lisle, IL and later at Indy and my personal winner is definitely Phantom Regiment. Their GE and music were outstanding. I’m still scratching my head over the Cadet’s show.
