Well, the semester is coming to an end, and so are my first two years of college; this all meaning that after May 9, 2002 I will have my first college degree, an AS in Computer Graphics Technology. I must say that it has been a long time coming, but I have learned more than I ever imagined about computers, graphics, and learning. I am not taking any classes this summer which should be a very nice break considering it will be my first summer without anything to do for more than 7 years. Very excited about this.
I take my final exam in Physics 2 tomorrow, and I am not really nervous even though the material we are covering is WAY more intense than anything else you could learn. The level of thought is just unbelievable. I think that overall I am AMAZED at the quality of education you can receive right here in Richmond. I was very upset when I first realized that I was going to have to stay here in Richmond and enroll in the Purdue programs because I didn’t think it was going to be much of a challenge, but I was wrong. Thankfully.
However, there seems to be quite a rift between the IUEast programs and the Purdue programs. Even though IUEast is thought to be the host campus for the Purdue programs, Purdue is blowing them out of the water in terms of teacher quality and student/teacher interaction. I have had to take classes through IUEast to get my AS degree, and I am very unhappy with most of the instructors I had for my IUEast classes (apart from maybe my Physics, Calculus, and English teachers). Either way, I think it is important to let students know about the possibilities that await them right here in their hometown of Richmond.
Either way, I still feel that going to Purdue here in Richmond is the best decision I could have made, I have a great job, I make a good living, I’m getting married, and I am happy, what more could you ask for?
